During my treatment for migraine (see The Migraine Syndrome - A Lifetime Condemnation to Pain), other experiences happened (See An Embarrassing Situation) which helped form my views and interest in acupuncture and Alternative Medicine. Another of the most formidable experiences other than my migraine happened to me on the eve of a business trip I was taking to Hiroshima the next morning. I was taking the garbage out back. I slipped and fell on the concrete slab where the garbage cans were kept. I hopped inside amidst a string of vernacular expletives. Just the smallest amount of pressure on the knee and the pain shot up my leg causing me to crumble to the floor. My Japanese wife helped me up on the couch and propped my injured leg on the sofa arm. She cut away my pants leg as my knee had swollen to twice if not three times its natural size. When I saw my knee that size, I mumbled that I needed to call the boss to cancel my trip.
My wife had returned from the kitchen with a bowl of something and said "Hogwash! You will be fine for the trip. This will reduce the swelling in about 45 minutes." she said matter-of-factly as she spread the paste over my swollen extremity. ("Yeah, Right!" I replied silently.)
She was wrong! It took a little over an hour before my knee returned to its normal self and I could again walk on it without limping and grimacing.
When I last checked Comfrey was not yet approved by FDA for internal consumption but was for topical use only. This herb is unbelievable in its natural form as used in the above treatment. Forms of Comfrey available in this country that we have tested do not manifest these amazing qualities. Please if you have found other sources that provide Comfrey in this natural state, let us know.
