Ampuku Wellness Therapy

During my treatment for migraine (see The Migraine Syndrome - A Lifetime Condemnation to Pain), other experiences happened which helped form my views and interest in acupuncture and Alternative Medicine.   One of the most formidable experiences other than my migraine happened to my Japanese wife.  She had been hanging curtains throughout the house.  She stood 5 ft 3 inches and weighed 103 pounds.  In the bedroom, she was standing on the dresser hanging the curtain when she lost her balance and fell, straddling the corner of the dresser.  The injured area was swollen and bruised extensively.  Since she was shy and did not want to go to the Military doctor, I took (carried as she could not walk) her to the acupuncturist off base.  I carried her upstairs and laid her down on the acupuncturist's table.  We turned her over onto her stomach and he placed three needles in a row down each side of her lower back.  He then immediately instructed her to get up and "run" up and down the stairs.  "Yeah Right!"   My wife muttered some phrase in disbelief to which he replied, "Go ahead, it doesn't hurt now."

She very slowly sat up and gingerly placed one foot over the side of the table.  Then the other, ever so slowly.  After a brief instance, she stretched a foot down onto the Tatami matted floor.  The other soon followed.  She made her way over to the stairs and slowly placed one foot on the steps.  The other soon followed.  At first she moved slowly, cautiously.   Soon she was walking up and down the steps at her regular pace.  We both were at a loss for words. He of course, never doubted what he could accomplish.  The swelling was treated separately with some salve (derived from the herb Comfrey).  It took about a day to reverse the swelling. 

When I last checked Comfrey was not yet approved by FDA for internal consumption but was for topical use only. This herb is unbelievable in its natural form as used in the above treatment. Forms of Comfrey available in this country that we have tested do not manifest these amazing qualities. Please if you have found other sources that provide Comfrey in this natural state, let us know.
